Outfall Anchor Replacement and Repair Long Branch Sewage Authority
Long Branch, NJ
In 2015 Hydro-Marine Construction Co., Inc. completed the underwater inspection and repair of the Long Branch Sewerage Authority Ocean Outfall Pipe in the Atlantic Ocean.
With the recent storms like Hurricane Sandy, the structure owners were concerned about preventing movement in the outfall pipe due to future storms. The project included determining the dimensions at various points along the pipe, clearing any clogged outfall diffusers, locating/salvaging all existing tie-downs, and driving 20 new 12′ to 15′ long Helical Screw Anchors with steel tie-down brackets.
The 4-person dive team had a maximum operating depth of 45′ with dives ranging from 125 to 163 minutes. Equipment for the project included all standard commercial dive equipment, a high flow powerpack, hydraulic head with torque bar, 20 hp jet pump, Monkey heater, and a 1000lb capacity Davit Crane mounted to the deck of the ship. All work was completed from a 48′ custom chartered dive boat out of the Shark River Inlet in Belmar, NJ.
The final cost for the project was for approximately $250,000.
